This course focuses on the biopsychospiritual aspects of addictions in general. Humans use substances and processes for the purpose of medicating a wounded heart and the student will learn and understand the nature of the addictive personality, the various theories of addiction, how addiction relates to loneliness, symptoms and treatment modalities. A focus will be given to a Christian understanding of addictions and how the Christian Counselor or pastoral counselor/minister can work with those struggling with an addiction.
