She honors her heritage as a Muskogee Creek Indian by teaching a Muskogee language class, writing language manuals, and recording CDs – including one called Pum Afvcketvn, We Will Sing Hallelujah.

Marian is the pastor’s wife, Sunday School teacher and music director for Tama Community Church, which is a Muskogee Creek Church. She and her husband have three children and four grandchildren.

marian_johnsonMarian says: “Time is a precious gift from God and we need to spend it wisely. Many years ago, I made a decision that my time would be spent furthering the Kingdom of God not only on Sunday, but every day and in all that I do . . . 24/7. It would take many days to tell you about all the opportunities God has provided since I made that commitment. I believe one of the doors God opened for me was the honor and opportunity of serving on the Board of TCCTC. It is my privilege and desire to help in whatever capacity I can through TCCTC to help others know God’s Word and be prepared to live it and honor it always.”

Christmas Message

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(John 1:14, NASB

I just returned from an amazing 3 weeks in New Zealand, but the memory that is most etched in my mind about our time in this magnificent land is a sign that I saw one morning in front of a Christian church while walking around a small town near Christchurch.  (And by the way, is that a great name for a city, or what?)  The sign was so simple – four short words followed by a question mark – but so, so profound for all of humanity: “What if it’s true?”

I would imagine that all of us have asked that question of ourselves, and maybe of others, on our journey.  Jesus certainly seems to be asking His disciples a form of that question when He asks them, “Who do you say I am?” (Mt. 16:15, et al.) and the disciples and others seem to be asking themselves and others, “What if it’s true?” when they encounter the empty tomb and hear rumors of the resurrection some 2000 years ago.

But John answers the question boldly in the opening words of his gospel, and it is this that we, the faith community, are called to proclaim with all our being during the Advent season and beyond:  “Yes!  It is true!  The Word, the Son of God, ‘became flesh, and dwelt among us’”!

Of all the many things that makes Tallahassee Christian College and Training Center so special to me, it is the opportunity to share the “Yes, it is true” commonality of our faiths together that stands out. In a world that is so divided and where so many still ponder the answer to the question or have rejected the possibility of the answer being “Yes”, it is up to us who God has given “the right to become children of God” (Jn. 1:12) to go beyond the walls of TCCTC and tell a hungry and often lost world of this truth.

On behalf of the Board of TCCTC, may the grace and peace of the Lord be with you and yours this Christmas, and always!
